Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I accept insurance in both Massachusetts and Maine. For a complete list of insurances accepted please click here. Your insurance will need to be verified prior to scheduling an appt. It is always good practice for you, the client, to verify that I am a provider within your network benefits.
Do you take private pay?
Yes, private pay is accepted for those who opt to pay out of pocket. Private pay clients may opt to take a superbill of services to their insurance company and submit the claim themselves. If you are requesting a superbill please make sure that your health plan has out of network benefits.
Do you keep a credit card on file?
Yes, keeping a credit card on file is standard practice for collecting payment of co-pays, cancellation/missed appointment fees and/or private pay appts. If you are opting for a service outside of therapy such as coaching, yoga or reiki a credit card on file is maintained for those services as well. If your payment is declined you will need to update the credit card on file before services are rendered.
Can I switch to telehealth if I typically see you in person?
Yes, life happens and you are always welcome to switch your appointment from in-person to telehealth as long as you have a signed telehealth consent form on file. You may know upfront that you do not want to meet telehealth but due to weather, illness, etc. there may be times when it is necessary and can avoid a cancellation or missed appointment fee.
How long are sessions?
A clinical hour is 50 to 53 minutes. Some insurances as of early summer 2026 are only covering sessions that are 45 minutes in length. Your typical session length will be discussed at your first session.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is always confidential. Releases need to be signed for me to speak with anyone about your care including parents, caretakers, significant others. There are special circumstances when confidentiality can be broken, those are limited to a threat of self-harm or threatening to harm others. This will all be covered in our initial session and documents sent for signature prior to session.
What is the cancellation policy?
The cancellation policy is 48 hours prior to the appointment. If you reschedule within the same week, subject to clinician availability, then the fee will not be charged. If you cancel the rescheduled appointment the original fee will be assessed.
What is the cancellation fee?
$100
What is the your private pay rate?
Individual Sessions : $150
Couples Sessions: $175
What if I have two health insurances?
If you have two insurances, you will need to provide that information during the insurance verification process so there are no billing issues. Insurances must be billed in the correct order, i.e. primary vs. secondary. If you are unsure of what the order of your insurance is you should call your member benefits line to verify.
Do you provide superbills?
If I am considered an out of network provider for you, then you may request a superbill to submit a claim to your insurance company for reimbursement. You must verify with your insurance company that they will reimburse for OON providers as this is not something that the provider can verify for you.
What can I expect during the first session?
Our first session is a chance to review any questions about the documents you completed prior to your first visit and an opportunity for me to get to know you and for you to get to know me. First sessions are considered intake sessions and can sometimes feel a bit formal but I do my best to make you feel comfortable right off the bat. I do not force answers to questions and encourage my clients to return to topics when they are ready.
How will I know if you are the right therapist for me?
Just like any other relationship, this one needs to feel right for you. Some people know by the end of first session, sometimes it takes a few sessions to decide. I remind all of my clients that it's important for you to feel comfortable with the person that you will be talking to weekly about intimate details of your life. If you decide that is not me, it's ok! I get! I've been there!
When will I feel different or better?
It is impossible to give a timeline on how long it will take for you to feel different. I like to remind my clients that I cannot want change for them more than they want it for themselves - therapy requires commitment to the self first and foremost, the simple act of reaching out and setting up an appointment means that you are ready for something to change.
